I remember overhearing a colleague once say to a patient “We sell this cream, but you might get it cheaper at the pharmacy”. Not a convincing sales pitch with little hope of return for the practice! As they say - "Don’t let profit walk out the door". With increasing numbers of podiatrists wanting to be able to offer more services in skin care I often get asked - How can I do this and sell more to patients? How do I turn my clinical interest in dermatology into revenue?

This is something I have not addressed specifically before so this year, I have decided to run a day dedicated to this topic and at the same time offer a dermatology update.  This one-off day focuses on how you can practically use your dermatological skills to improve your business and build a revenue stream, selling a range of products to patients that fits in with treatment protocols and national guidelines for very common conditions seen every day in clinical practice.

There are many things we can stock and sell which can make a difference to your patient care and  your profits. On the day, I will focus on the common things where there is most scope for offering packages of care with repeat business in sales.

Fungal Foot Infection.

With the new National guidelines being published soon, are you up to the mark with recognition, diagnosis and treatment? Fungal skin infection offers many opportunities to provide suitable, evidence-based products to your patient to compliment your care from diagnosis to treatment. I will be covering this and looking at ways to make this happen.

Dry skin

Dry Skin.  A real unmet market. Most of our patients will have dry skin but its more than just trying to sell the odd tube of urea-based foot cream. But, when you speak to practice owners, they are often not keen to promote this as competition from the local pharmacy is an issue and so there is no profit in it. On the day I will be looking at the whole issue.

Imagine you could offer a whole range of top-quality range of skin care products to patients without worrying about the local pharmacy. Why? Because you can buy them in at the same price they pay! I will be joined by a global pharmaceutical company who will be offering podiatrists the opportunity to stock part or all their range, with little or no risk to the finances. These are products GPs would like to prescribe in dermatological conditions but are just over the prescription price.

Inflammatory skin conditions.

A common issue like eczema and psoriasis affecting many patients. Again, I will be covering the clinical aspects and then highlight how products can meet the patients’ needs without breaking the bank.

On the day I will be showcasing the next generation clinical management system, which takes clinical practice and record keeping to the next level with built in  tools for dermatology and clinical care across the board whilst running a comprehensive back office for financial and practice management with features not seen on other systems. This new generation also offers the potential opportunity to migrate data from your current system over to the new one, meaning you are no longer tied in to your provider.

Finally, A look through the dermatoscope. An invaluable tool for recognising the benign and the sinister in the world of skin lesions. Dermoscopy can improve recognition skills but also chart the progress of treatments for example, verrucae.

To make this happen I am supported on the day by a select few companies who will be offering products at prices not available elsewhere. Exclusive offers and samples will also be available on the day.

A dermatology update and a boost to your business. Can you afford to miss it? Please note, the numbers are limited to allow maximum interaction and questions.

The day includes refreshments and a light lunch. Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
